Tony Herron

A market-savvy strategist and engaging negotiator who thrives on lively discussion, a full calendar and calculated risk, Tony has participated in more than 300 DB, DC and H&W RFP projects. He has also managed dozens of benchmarking, renewal negotiation and contracting projects. Tony has also advised two investment management/banking firms and a private equity firm interested in entering the pension and/or H&W administration business, and he was one of the business leaders who helped establish one of the industry’s first full-service employee benefit outsourcing providers. His expertise, matched with a mind for details and insistence on excellence, makes him a walking storehouse of market intelligence and ideas for successful sourcing in benefits administration.

Before co-founding herronpalmer with Felicia Palmer, Tony spent six years as a partner with TPI (now ISG). At TPI, he served on the HR consulting practice’s Management Committee and led the employee benefit consulting business. He also served as the engagement partner and/or project director for benefits-related consulting projects for more than 60 companies.

Earlier in his career, Tony spent more than a decade in senior management positions with leading outsourcing and co-sourcing service providers such as Towers Perrin, Watson Wyatt Worldwide and Wellspring Resources. He was responsible for functions such as account management, market research, product development, contract negotiations, sales and marketing.

Tony holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Ball State University. He has completed a Leadership Development Program managed by the Harvard University Graduate School of Business. In addition, Tony has successfully completed the requirements for the FINRA Series 6 and Series 63 licenses, as well as Indiana and Illinois life and health insurance licenses. He was recently named one of the leading HR and benefits consultants in the United States by HRO Today Magazine, and he was awarded the 2010 HR Outsourcing Association Thought Leader of the Year.
